Another Process Mining Acquisition to “Reimagine” Intelligent Automation
Digital transformation starts with process. As I wrote in Data Driven Investor: “You can do more with end-to-end process analytics and begin to transform your entire organization; because transformation starts with understanding. You can’t improve what you don’t measure.” I’ve been shouting this since 2017!
Becoming an agile enterprise means operating as a seamless mix of digital workers, human workers, and systems dynamically automating processes everywhere from the back office to the customer experience. As RPA evolves, it is becoming increasingly apparent that process intelligence is a vital part of any automation strategy and RPA vendors are expected to provide tools that make it possible. While one of the first examples of this was with the acquisition of TimelinePI by ABBYY in 2019, the most recent indication of this trend comes in the form of an announcement that Automation Anywhere will acquire FortressIQ.
I suppose after ABBYY acquired TimelinePI in August 2019, UiPath acquired ProcessGold in October 2019, SAP acquired Signavio in March 2021, IBM acquired myInvenio in April 2021, there weren’t many options left.
