How Sittap’s Encrypted NFC Technology is Helping Restaurants and Delighting Customers

The global pandemic has had a profound impact on the hospitality industry, with many establishments being forced to adapt to the new normal.

Restaurants have indeed undergone significant changes since the pandemic, and three primary factors have driven this transformation. Firstly, staff reductions due to the crisis have prompted many waiters to reconsider their careers, resulting in a personnel shortage. Secondly, contactless digital solutions have become more widely accepted, with customers finding them to be a convenient and safer way to order and pay. Lastly, the emergence of food delivery services has disrupted the traditional dining habits and the industry.

Due to these changes, a range of solutions have emerged, including two ordering methods that have evolved from the traditional restaurant experience: large screen machines, akin to those found in McDonald’s, and QR codes on tables. However, both these options require payment upfront and risk transforming the restaurant experience into a fast food-like atmosphere. As a result, several restaurants are resisting these solutions to maintain a welcoming ambiance and avoid resembling fast food chains, prioritizing human interaction instead. This is a wise decision; however, with the difficulty in hiring and retaining waitstaff.
